Potty Mouth

Aly went pee pee in the potty for the first time the other morning! Yay Aly!!  We are now on the potty training journey…. Oh boy.  So far she has done decent.  She wakes up with a dry diaper and has used the potty every morning, but that’s it.  Of course, she goes to day care every day so that does make it difficult.  I’m not sure how often they take her there which is going to make a big difference.  During the weekends I take her every 1-2 hours, whenever I see her pulling at her diaper, or whenever she says “potty”… but she doesn’t always go. Any “mom advice” to make this road a little smoother?

Dirty Little Secret

I have been so stressed out lately about my house!  We have lived in our house for about 3 years now, and I can’t think of a single time that the entire house has been completely presentable.  I can’t stand it!  I hate having to clean up every time someone says they’re coming over.  I hate the feeling of my heart sinking in my stomach when someone just drops by because my house is a disaster.  My husband and I both are to blame.  We are great “clean it uppers”.  We are horrible “keep it cleaners”.  We can spend an entire Saturday cleaning and it will look great, but give it a week… MAN!  But our office… that room has NEVER been clean.  From day one it was our “put it in there till we figure out where we’re going to put it”.  We never did figure out where we wanted to put it.  Then it became our “dang it, someone’s coming and I don’t have time to clean so just throw it in there and we’ll close the door” room…. And then we’d forget we threw it in there…  But who has time to keep it clean?  I get home from work, start supper, feed me and Aly, give Aly her bath, play with Aly for a little while, take her to bed, get my shower, spend a little time with my husband, then it’s my bed time because I have to be up and at’em by 5:30 am.  When am I supposed to work in a load of laundry, dishes, dusting, and vacuuming in there?  I almost want to buy a new house just to start all over so I don’t have to clean this one.  Maybe that can be my new house cleaning plan.  Buy a house.  Live in it for about 5 years (just long enough to junk it up good but not trash it). Sell it, de-clutter with yard sales and donations to good will to trim back down to the necessities, buy a new house and start over.  Hmmm… sounds tempting.  In the meantime, anyone know the number to the magic cleaning fairy?

Check. 1, 2, 3... Hello?

I’ve attempted blogging before and it didn’t work for me, but I enjoy reading other people’s blogs so much I’m going to give it another good ol’ college try.  So let me start with the introductions.

ME – Born and raised in Buffalo, SC.  I’m the middle child of an older sister and a younger brother.  I grew up a tomboy playing sports, started dating my husband when I was 16 in 10th grade, went to Lander Univeristy and majored in Exercise Science, played softball my freshman year, joined Chi Sigma Christian sorority, went to MUSC in Charleston to get my Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy, married my high school sweetheart, moved back home (at least to the general area), got a job at Spartanburg Regional, became a Mommy to a bouncing baby girl.  That’s me in a nutshell.

KEITH – Born and raised in Union, SC (that’s upper class compared to my Buffalo).  Oldest child to one younger brother.  Grew up playing lots of sports, turkey hunting, and deer hunting.  Met his LOVELY wife in 10th grade.  Went to USC Union for a year then decided to join the military.  He completed his basic training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, SC.  Then he went to Ft. Sam Houston in Texas for AIT where he was trained as a medic for his MOS.  He served part time Army National Guard for a few years before he went active duty as a recruiter.  After he married his BEAUTIFUL wife, he decided recruiting was too stressful and time consuming for family life, so back to part-time/medic he went.  He has not been deployed yet, but he has been to Japan and Germany for training exercises and will be going to Saudi Arabia next year for additional training.  We are hearing rumors of his first deployment coming up sometime next year.  He now works for Charter Communications and is the father of a beautiful little girl.

ALY – Born May 18, 2009.  Her Daddy’s Girl, Her Mama’s World.  Beautiful.  Loveable.  Smart.  Funny.  Outgoing.  Loves to read, play ball, eat, jump, walk, draw, take a bath, sit on Roxy.  She’s everything we could have ever asked for and more!

This blog is going to be about my life as an individual, as a wife, as a mom, as career woman, as military spouse.  How I live day to day, how I deal with stress, how I handle problems with my husband, raising my daughter, dealing with deployment (if those orders go through), juggling work and life, and all those extra little suprises that pop up.

Hope I’ve peaked your interest enough to come on back and keep reading! (Because I’m sure I’ll have TONS of free time to do nothing but write lots and lots! J)
